NEW BEGINNINGS PARTY

Excited to get going with Sortinghat on Dreamwidth? Excellent, so am I! While we're waiting for the game to start over here, here's a chance to get used to using the site with a wide-open meme.

The setting? A New Years party at Hogwarts (never mind if your character went home, that's why this is a meme)! There's every kind of delicious magical food you can think of (and oh dear, did somebody spike some of the punch?), live music, and glitter everywhere.

Your mission? Try something new! Try as many new somethings as you can think of! Test-drive a character (or throw in somebody you'd never actually app), tag a stranger, go out of your comfort zone, incorporate an element of the magical world you've never gotten around to using, or even have some stray magic hit your character and do whatever kind of bizarre thing comes to mind. With a new year, website, setting, and format, isn't it about time you did something new and exciting with your roleplaying?

This is open to characters and players not in the game!

(Need inspiration? Might I suggest picking a random page from the Harry Potter wiki?)

[Shizune gives a distinctly disapproving glare before putting the glass down pointedly on Lalonde's side of the table, not her own.]

[ Lalonde looks a little surprised at the rejection of her little cocktail, but she shrugs and laughs it off - happily re-accepting the drink. Maybe alcohol wasn't always the best way to get to know someone. ]

Haha, okayokay, point taken.
I won't say no to a little moar... more, myself.

[ She downs the rest of her glass and takes up Shizune's with a wink. ]

[Okay, some kind of communication needs to happen, even if it's extremely basic. This is going nowhere.]

[Shizune puts her hands over her ears, shakes her head slightly, and then shrugs.]

[ Lalonde tilts her head to the side, not entirely sure what the gesture was supposed to mean.

After an awkward moment where one could possibly visibly see the cogs turning in her head, it dawns on her. The new girl can't hear her! ]

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

[ She flails around a bit trying to figure out in her drunken little head how to communicate and ends up pointing at the drink she's holding and the punch bowl, before holding up a finger drunkenly before wandering off.

About half a minute later she's back again with another glass of punch - one without quite as strong a smell of firewhisky. She smiles and puts it in front of Shizune triumphantly, looking at her hopefully for a sign of approval or disapproval. ]

[Oh good! Message conveyed successfully.]

[Shizune doesn't entirely trust this new drink either, but she accepts it regardless in the spirit of potential camraderie.]

[ Lalonde smiles and mimes taking a drink from the glass, watching her eagerly ]

[ She also points at the food and looks at Shizune questioningly, holding up a thumbs up or a thumbs down, asking how it is ]
